Promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in all fields
On the afternoon of April 22, the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo hosted a reception for a delegation of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Federation led by President Yuko Obuchi and leaders and parliamentarians of the Federation. This is an important diplomatic activity contributing to promoting bilateral cooperation and the strong friendship between the two countries.
According to a VNA correspondent in Tokyo, at the reception, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu congratulated female parliamentarian Yuko Obuchi on being elected as President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Federation, highly appreciated the early establishment of the Executive Committee and expressed gratitude to the members for actively promoting bilateral relations in all fields over the past years. The Ambassador expressed his hope that members of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, regardless of their positions, will always actively promote bilateral relations in all fields, especially after the framework of the relationship was upgraded to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World".
Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu respectfully conveyed to Prime Minister Obuchi the invitation of the Vietnamese leader to lead a delegation of the alliance to visit Vietnam in 2025 to promote bilateral relations in all fields, including science and technology cooperation and human resource development. These are fields that the leaders of the two countries consider to be one of the pillars promoting bilateral relations in the new era.
Meanwhile, Ms. Yoko Obuchi said that she has inherited the tradition of valuing and promoting exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam from her father, the late Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi (Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Union), who visited Vietnam on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam in 1998. Mr. Obuchi also highly appreciated the strong development of bilateral relations in recent years in all fields, from politics, diplomacy, defense, security to economic cooperation, science and technology, education and training, cultural exchange, people-to-people exchange and regional cooperation. The presence of a large number of members of the Friendship Parliamentary Union from various political parties in the National Assembly shows the importance that Japan places on its relationship with Vietnam and its efforts to promote this relationship. Mr. Obuchi also expressed his gratitude for the contributions to the socio-economic development of the Vietnamese community of more than 600,000 people living, studying and working in Japan, and expressed his wish to lead a delegation of the alliance to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
On this occasion, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu and members of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Federation also discussed specific solutions to promote cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
