Viet Nam and Japan to promote Party-to-Party Cooperation
On May 12, 2021, Ambassador Vu Hong Nam met with Mr. Koizumi Ryuji, Member of the House of Representatives, Head of the International Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan to announce the results of the 13th National Party Congress as authorized by the Party's Central Committee for Foreign Relations.
Ambassador Vu Hong Nam expressed his thanks to the leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan for the congratulatory notes extended to the Congress, congratulating the Party leaders who were re-elected as well as and being elected at the 13th Party Congress. Ambassador Vu Hong Nam highlighted the major outcomes of the 13th Party Congress, briefed on the socio-economic development, foreign policy and objectives, direction and tasks in the future. He stressed that the 13th Party Congress is particularly important given the rapid developments and complex situation in the world. The 13th Party Congress also set forth Viet Nam's development goals to 2030 and vision to 2045, which are associated with two major milestones: 100 years of establishment of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and 100 years of national establishment.
Regarding foreign policy, Viet Nam continues to follows the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations; proactively and actively integrating into the world in a comprehensive, extensive and effective manner; maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, constantly improving Vietnam's international status and prestige. Ambassador also briefely mentioned that, during a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on May 11, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that Viet Nam always considers Japan as a strategic, most important and long-term partner in its foreign policy.
Excellency Koizumi Ryuji, acting on behalf of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP), once again congratulated Viet Nam on the success of the 13th Party Congress, considered it a major political event of Viet Nam in 5 years; highly valued the achievements of "Doi Moi" under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, thus enhancing the position of Viet Nam in the region and in the world. Mr. Koizumi expressed his strong belief to the roadmap and policies set out by the Party Congress in order to realize major goals in the coming years. Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, led by Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, will further strengthen its cooperation with the Communist Party of Viet Nam based on the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two Parties and multiple agreements between the high-level leaders of the two countries, thus contributing to promoting cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan in a comprehensive, substantial and effective manner, looking forward to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023.
Mr. Koizumi Ryuji highly valued the efforts of the Government and people of Viet Nam in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, expressed his wish to visit Viet Nam soon when the epidemic was under control; appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Japan and extended his warm regards to Excellency Ambassador Vu Hong Nam, Embassy's staffs and the entire Vietnamese community in Japan ./.
