Two Vietnamese youths bravely save two Japanese children in distress
According to a VNA reporter in Japan, two Vietnamese youths saved two Japanese children at Gotenba beach in Mie prefecture on the afternoon of August 11. The actions of the two Vietnamese youths have received praise and admiration for their brave spirit of sacrificing themselves to save people in danger.
On the afternoon of August 11, at Gotenba beach (Mie prefecture, Japan), an incident that made many people gasp occurred when two Japanese children were sitting on a float, playing near the seaside playground, when they were suddenly swept away by strong waves and winds nearly 100m from the shore and drifted along the shore for nearly 700m.
Incidentally, a group of 15 Vietnamese friends playing near the shore at that time noticed something unusual when they heard cries for help in the distance and it seemed that two children were sitting on a float being swept away. At that time, there was a strong wind and the tide was receding rapidly, causing the children to drift further and further away from shore and the buoy could capsize at any time.
Realizing the imminent danger when the tide receded rapidly and the buoy could capsize at any time, two Vietnamese youths, Pham Quoc Dat and Tong Manh Tuan, immediately jumped into the sea to rescue them. Manh Tuan and Quoc Dat swam straight out to intercept the two children. Due to the long distance and strong waves, the first approach was unsuccessful, and the two Vietnamese youths were forced to turn back.
In the strong wind and big waves, the two youths quickly decided to change their rescue strategy, accordingly, they ran along the shore and when they reached a position on the shore almost level with the position of the two children's buoy in the distance, the two youths put on a buoy made from bicycle tires and jumped into the sea to intercept them. With good swimming skills, the two youths quickly broke through the strong waves and swam out a second time. When they approached the two children and received reassurance from the two brave Vietnamese young men, the two children knew they had been saved and became calmer.
Mr. Pham Quoc Dat said that when he and his friends sensed that someone was in danger, the first reflex of him and his friends was to find a way to save them. Although the first approach was unsuccessful because the big waves knocked the two children's buoys out of reach, the two people did not hesitate to rush out a second time because they were afraid that if they did not save them in time, the big waves might overturn the buoys, putting the lives of the two children on the buoys in danger.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan praised them and said that the Ambassador would award a certificate of merit to the two Vietnamese young men for their brave actions.
On August 28, the Mie provincial government will award a certificate of merit to recognize this heroic act. Speaking to a VNA reporter in Japan, a representative of the Naka Fire Department in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, confirmed that the department had officially invited two Vietnamese youths, Pham Quoc Dat and Manh Tuan, to come to the department to receive a certificate of merit for their brave actions in saving two Japanese children. According to the plan, the award ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on August 28 at the Naka Fire Department in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture. The spirit of selflessness of the group of young Vietnamese people, including Tong Manh Tuan, 29 years old, and Pham Quoc Dat, 27 years old, has left a deep impression, spreading a beautiful image of the bravery and kindness of Vietnamese youth.
