VIETNAM - JAPAN TEA CULTURE EXCHANGE AT THE EMBASSY OF VIETNAM IN JAPAN

On July 1, 2025, the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan hosted a tea culture exchange event titled:

“Brewing Traditions – A Tea Journey from Japan to Vietnam.”

The event aimed to highlight the refined elegance of Vietnam’s traditional lotus tea, alongside the renowned Urasenke tea ceremony—one of Japan’s most distinguished and long-standing tea schools.

Participants had the opportunity to savor the delicate and sophisticated flavor of Hanoi lotus tea, a hallmark of Vietnamese culinary culture, and to experience an authentic tea ceremony performance by the Urasenke school, which showcased the depth of spirit, philosophy, and ritual inherent in Japanese tea culture.

During the reception, Japanese guests were also invited to enjoy six unique Vietnamese teas, including: lotus tea, cinnamon tea, soursop tea, nhân trần (aromatic herb) tea, pandan tea, and artichoke tea.

The program also featured a hands-on cultural activity where participants created traditional Japanese-style bags using Vietnamese fabric—an engaging experience that celebrated the artistry of handicrafts and the creative connection between the two cultures.

This meaningful cultural exchange contributed to fostering mutual understanding, strengthening friendship, and promoting long-term cooperation between the peoples of Vietnam and Japan.
