Vietnam emerges as hot destination for Japan governors

On December 30, 2024, Nikkei Asia/Japan reporter Yuji Nitta published an article titled “Vietnam emerges as hot destination for Japan governors”. The article contains the following notable contents:

Leaders from Japanese prefectural governments are flocking to Vietnam as they hunt for business opportunities and promising talent.

The governors of nine prefectures traveled to the Southeast Asian country in 2024. Their delegations often included representatives from not only manufacturers, but also restaurant operators and other companies not typically reliant on foreign markets.

With more than 600,000 Vietnamese nationals living in Japan as of this past June, Japanese companies also hope to attract more talented people to come work for them.

Vietnam trailed only India as a top country for potential business expansion in a July-August survey of Japanese manufacturers by the government-owned Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
