Japan Continues to Support Vietnam in Overcoming the Aftermath of Typhoon No. 3

On September 24, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture, Mr. Nagasaki Kotaro, visited the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan to present donations in support of Vietnam’s recovery from the impacts of Typhoon No. 3 (internationally known as Typhoon Yagi).

At the meeting, Chargé d’Affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh emphasized the invaluable support and warm sentiments from Japanese friends for Vietnam. He expressed appreciation for Yamanashi Prefecture as the first Japanese delegation to visit the Vietnamese Embassy, demonstrating solidarity and offering assistance for Typhoon No. 3 recovery.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh thanked Governor Nagasaki Kotaro and hoped that the governor would continue to support the Vietnamese community in Yamanashi.

For his part, Governor Nagasaki Kotaro expressed condolences to the Vietnamese people for the losses caused by Typhoon No. 3.

The governor shared that in early September 2024, Yamanashi and Yen Bai provinces signed a framework agreement to implement cooperative activities between the two provinces.

Upon learning that Yen Bai was among the areas heavily impacted by Typhoon No. 3, the Governor expressed his desire to share in Vietnam’s difficulties and extend the support of the people of Yamanashi to the people of Vietnam.

During the meeting, the Governor of Yamanashi presented a symbolic donation to aid Vietnam’s typhoon recovery. Yamanashi Prefecture indicated it would work with the embassy to transfer the donation directly to the relevant Vietnamese authorities as soon as possible, amounting to 1,000,000 yen (over 170 million VND).
