The Embassy of Viet Nam attended the meeting between H.E. José Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, and representatives of Japanese political parties.

On August 22, 2025, the Parliamentary Committee of Japan for the World Federation hosted a meeting between H.E. José Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, and representatives of Japanese political parties under the theme “Upholding the Rule of Law and Respecting Multilateralism.”Participants included Mr. Fukushiro Nukaga, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan; President Ramos-Horta; lawmakers from various Japanese political parties; the Timor-Leste delegation; as well as heads and representatives of ASEAN embassies in Tokyo.

President Ramos-Horta emphasized the fundamental role of international law and the United Nations Charter in global cooperation, while also sharing Timor-Leste’s vision as the country prepares to become the 11th member of ASEAN. This was regarded as a notable diplomatic activity of Timor-Leste at a time when the international legal order and multilateralism are facing significant challenges.
