Celebrating the National Day of Viet Nam: Continuing to cultivate 50 years of Vietnam - Japan friendship 

On September 6, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan organized the 78th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945-September 2, 2023) in Tokyo with the participation of more than 500 guests, including representatives from the Government and ministries of Japan, diplomatic corps and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan. 

Attending the celebration on the Japanese side includes H.E. Mr. Nikai Toshihiro Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance , H.E. Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo Chairman of the Komeito Party, H.E. Mr. Saito Ken Justice Minister, H.E. Mr. Kato Katsunobu Minister of Labor, Health and Welfare ; Mr. Watanabe Hiromichi Minister of Reconstruction, Mr. Tani Koichi National Public Safety Commission Chairman, Mr. Goto Shigeyuki Minister of Economic Revitalization Goto Shigeyuki and Mr. Takei Shunsuke Secretary of State of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu read the congratulatory message from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu recalled the important historical milestone when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on September 2, 1945. The Ambassador emphasized that over the past 78 years, the Party, State and people of Viet Nam have tirelessly fought to protect independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, the right to self-determination of the nation, freedom and happiness for the people, actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world. In particular, in the process of implementing the Doi Moi policy, with the valuable and effective help of international friends, Viet Nam has achieved historic achievements in all fields. Viet Nam plays an increasingly important role in the Indo-Pacific region, being a good friend, trusted partner, and responsible member of the international community; Wishing to join other countries in promoting globalization and international integration, towards a world of sustainable and inclusive development.

On the side of Japan, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Takei Shunsuke read Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's congratulatory message on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The message affirms that the Viet Nam - Japan  relationship has never been as profound as it is today when the two countries celebrate the historic milestone of 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 50 years of ASEAN -Japan cooperation and friendship. Viet Nam is Japan's key partner in realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific region. In the context of the current complicated international situation, it is important that the two countries work closely together for peace and prosperity of the region and the world. Viet Nam is also one of the important international partners of Japanese businesses and one of the most promising investment destinations in ASEAN. In addition, the Vietnamese people living in Japan is a community that contributes greatly to Japan's economy and society with about 500,000 people. Prime Minister Kishida also expressed his expectations for deeper cooperation in the Viet Nam - Japan relationship in all fields in the future.

The celebration ended with gentle and melodious Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs, creating an impression of the elegant traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people.
