Awarding the Japanese Law Competition for the Vietnamese Community

 

On the afternoon of October 26, the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan hosted the Announcement and Awarding Ceremony of the 2025 Japanese Law Competition for the Vietnamese Community in Japan.

The competition is organized to raise awareness and compliance with the law for Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Japan. A large number of contestants participated with thousands of entries from interns, international students, skilled workers, engineers - humanities - international, permanent residents... in many regions of Japan such as Tokyo, Kanagawa, Hokkaido, Iwate, Fukushima, Osaka, Oita,...

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu expressed his thanks to the Tokyo Police Department, Honto TV, the Vietnam - Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA), Vietnamese associations and sponsors for their cooperation in successfully organizing the contest. The Ambassador affirmed that this is a meaningful cooperation, demonstrating responsibility and common sentiment for an increasingly strong Vietnamese community in Japan and deep integration with the host country.

The Ambassador said that the contest received 8,460 entries, a significant increase in both quantity and quality compared to last year. This shows that the Vietnamese community is increasingly interested in learning about Japanese regulations, laws and codes of conduct. The contest also conveys the message that the Vietnamese community in Japan is always responsible, wants to build a harmonious, prosperous and happy life together in Japan, and at the same time contributes to the overall development of the host country.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu praised the Vietnamese people in Japan for actively participating in the contest, and thanked the Japanese host organizations and businesses for creating conditions for many Vietnamese workers to participate in the contest.

The Ambassador expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in Japan will continue to be active, proactive in learning and constantly researching to understand and strictly implement the laws, regulations, customs and practices of the host country; At the same time, the Embassy will continue to work with relevant authorities and local governments of Japan to propose creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to live, study and work in Japan. In addition, the Embassy will continue to accompany and support the organization of legal competitions and other related activities to raise awareness and understanding of Japanese law and customs for the community, thereby deepening the understanding between Japanese people and the Vietnamese community in Japan.

Representative of Tokyo Police Department, Mr. Kaku Yuji, sent congratulations to the winning contestants, and expressed his joy that this year's contest has attracted great attention in the community with the number of contestants being 5 times higher than last year. Mr. Kaku Yuji expressed his hope that the winners would impart knowledge about Japanese law to their relatives, friends and colleagues so that they could comply with the regulations and laws.

In an interview with a VNA reporter, Mr. Kaku Yuji said that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department coordinated the organization of this contest to help Vietnamese people living in Japan remember Japanese regulations. The questions in the contest are not only for Vietnamese people but also based on topics such as crimes committed by foreigners in daily life.

With the motto of objectivity, honesty and fairness, representatives of the Embassy's Community Affairs Committee, together with representatives of the Organizing Committee, graded the essays of 30 entries with the highest multiple-choice scores to select 13 entries to win the First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes. In which, the First prize went to contestant Bui Thu Hoai, an international student from Kanagawa; The second prize went to Tran Hai Tung from Oita province and the third prize went to Phan Nguyen Anh Tuyet from Saga province. Life Corporation won the prize for the group with the most workers participating in the contest, with 175 entries. In addition, the contest also awarded 10 Encouragement prizes and 17 contestants were honored for being in the group of 30 best entries.

Sharing with VNA reporters after receiving the only collective prize of the contest, representative of Life Corporation, Mr. Endo, said that the corporation currently has about 1,500 Vietnamese interns and skilled workers who are working very hard. In order to help Vietnamese workers improve their understanding of Japan and build long-term relationships with colleagues, Life Corporation has guided Vietnamese workers to participate in the contest. In addition, Life Corporation also organizes regular classes, maintains close contact with foreign workers and guides them on accepted and unacceptable regulations in Japan.

Expressing her honor at receiving the first prize of the contest, overseas student Bui Thu Hoai said that the contest has created a meaningful "playground", helping Vietnamese people far from home have the opportunity to learn and raise awareness of Japanese law. Bui Thu Hoai realized that understanding the law is not only an obligation but also the key to better integrating into the host society. For her, the award is not only a reward for personal efforts but also a motivation for Vietnamese people in Japan to continue learning and understanding the law, because that is the way to protect themselves and contribute to building a positive image of the Vietnamese community in Japan.
