Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu visits Yamagata Prefecture

From October 3-4, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan visited Yamagata Prefecture, met with Governor Yoshimura Mieko and attended a seminar to promote cooperation with businesses in the province.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu thanked the Governor and the Government of Yamagata Prefecture for always showing good feelings and effective support for the Vietnamese community, expressing his desire to strengthen cooperation in many areas from investment (encouraging provincial enterprises to invest in Vietnam), trade (enhancing the promotion of each other's products such as tropical fruits of Vietnam and temperate fruits of Yamagata...), education (increasing the reception of Vietnamese students to study in Yamagata, student exchanges between universities on both sides), labor (increasing the reception of Vietnamese workers, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese workers to settle down long-term), DX (supporting Vietnamese IT enterprises to participate in the province's digital transformation efforts), promoting local cooperation, and supporting the early establishment of the Vietnamese Association in the province.

Governor Yoshimura thanked Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu for his visit and expressed his good feelings for Yamagata Prefecture, highly appreciating the hard-working and creative Vietnamese workers who are making great contributions to the development of the province in many fields from manufacturing, agriculture to traditional handicrafts. The conical hats used in the province's largest traditional festival are produced by Vietnamese enterprises and workers. Currently, Vietnamese workers account for nearly 1/3 of the number of foreigners and have become the largest foreign community in the province. The Governor hopes to visit Vietnam again at an appropriate time, agreeing to promote exchanges and strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in all the above fields. He affirmed his determination to increase support for Vietnamese workers and students to choose Yamagata as a place to live, work and study long-term, as well as promote exchange activities between the province's people and the Vietnamese community.

At the discussion, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu answered a number of questions about the economic, political and social situation of Vietnam, the relationship between the two countries and the major orientations to promote the relationship between the two countries in the coming time. Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu also met with lecturers and students of Yamagata University who wished to soon come to Vietnam to exchange with Vietnamese university students on this occasion.
