The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan organized a high school student exchange program called "Teenage Ambassadors 2026"
On June 18th, in Tokyo, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan held a high school student exchange program titled "Teenage Ambassadors 2026". This was a key activity in a series of exchanges taking place from June 17th to 22nd, bringing together 32 Vietnamese students (from Viet Duc High School, Thuong Cat High School - Hanoi and Tran Dai Nghia High School, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School - Ho Chi Minh City) and 32 students from the host country (from Sapporo Nihon High School, Yokohama Science Frontier High School, Ritsumeikan Moriyama High School and Senri International High School). Previously, the students had the opportunity to visit the Prime Minister's Office and the Japanese Parliament building, and will continue their journey to learn about the history and experience the culture of Japan in the coming days.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu and Ms. Ngo Thi Diep Lan (Hanoi Department of Education and Training) both affirmed that the program has special significance in fostering bilateral friendship. The Ambassador emphasized that the enduring vitality of Vietnam-Japan relations stems from the close ties between the people of the two countries; therefore, the encounters and mutual understanding of today's young generation will create a solid foundation for the future. He hoped the trip would be a beautiful milestone in the students' journey of growth and open up strong friendships for them.
Representing the partner organization, Mr. Watanabe Hiroyuki – President of the AEON 1% Club Foundation – shared that the "Youth Ambassador" project has a 36-year history of promoting international exchange. Established in 1990, this organization allocates 1% of AEON Group's pre-tax profits to community activities, nurturing future generations, and strengthening friendship. To date, the program has attracted approximately 2,700 students, and 2026 marks the 5th year of the project's implementation between Vietnam and Japan. During the exchange, students from both countries performed cultural shows and enjoyed traditional Vietnamese cuisine. This meaningful series of activities will continue when a delegation of Japanese students visits and exchanges in Vietnam from October 19th to 24th.
