Vietnamese Embassy in Japan celebrates Independence Day for the community

 

VOV.VN - On the evening of September 14, in the premises of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Independence Day for the Vietnamese community in Japan were held in a solemn, warm and friendly atmosphere.

The event was attended by more than 200 delegates representing the Vietnamese community in all localities of Japan. Here, the delegates solemnly held a flag-raising ceremony and respectfully offered incense at the Ho Chi Minh Shrine, to commemorate the great contributions of our ancestors and to review historical documentary footage of the glorious 80-year journey of the entire nation.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan Pham Quang Hieu highlighted the continuous growth of the Vietnamese community in recent times.

“Currently, the Vietnamese community in Japan has reached nearly 700,000 people, making it the second largest foreign community in Japan. Vietnamese people are present in all provinces and cities of Japan, with many diverse components. No matter what position they hold, our community has increasingly affirmed its prestige, mettle, spirit of overcoming difficulties and aspiration to rise up” - Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu emphasized.

Also at the event, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Japan, expressed his gratitude for the policies and support measures that the Party and State have given to the Vietnamese community abroad, including the community in Japan, and highlighted the achievements that the community in Japan has achieved in recent times.

According to Mr. Son: "Vietnamese people in Japan not only contribute positively to the economy of the host country, but also act as a cultural, educational and diplomatic bridge between the two countries. In recent times, community activities, cultural events, legal support programs, teaching and spreading Vietnamese in Japan... have shown an image of Vietnamese people united, always loving and supporting each other."

Previously, on the evening of September 11, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan also solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for international friends, with the participation of about 500 guests representing the Government, agencies, businesses, localities, Japanese media and foreign diplomatic agencies in Japan. These meaningful activities have contributed to beautifying the image of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends and strengthening solidarity and mutual support within the Vietnamese community in Japan.
