Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu visits and works

In Iwate Province 

          From March 24-25, 2026, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu visited and worked in Iwate Province to promote local cooperation between the two countries. The visit included embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnam Digital Transformation Association in Japan. During the meeting with Governor Tasso Takuya, the Ambassador expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from the provincial government. The Ambassador highly appreciated Iwate's development potential, natural landscapes, and unique cultural identity. He also emphasized the role of the locality in promoting Vietnam-Japan cooperation. Both sides agreed to strengthen exchanges of high-level and local delegations in the future. Investment and trade cooperation were identified as key areas to be promoted. In particular, Iwate businesses were encouraged to expand their operations in Vietnam. Priority areas included mechanical engineering, logistics, food processing, and high technology. Both sides also agreed to promote bilateral tourism cooperation, including plans to explore the possibility of charter flights between Iwate and Vietnam. Regarding human resources, both sides emphasized supporting the Vietnamese labor community in the area and strengthening cultural and sports activities to foster community cohesion. Iwate Province highly appreciated the contributions of Vietnamese people to the local economy and society. Currently, nearly 3,000 Vietnamese workers are living and working in the prefecture.

          The field of digital transformation was also promoted through cooperation with VADX. The Ambassador spoke at a seminar with businesses, introducing Vietnam's investment environment and sharing the direction of bilateral cooperation in the coming period. During the visit, the Ambassador visited the Fujikin Tohoku factory, where he met with and encouraged Vietnamese workers who are improving their skills and Japanese language proficiency. The visit contributed to strengthening substantive cooperation and consolidating the friendly relations between Vietnam and Japan./.
