Vietnam and Japan Advance Healthcare Cooperation to Realize High-Level Commitments

On June 22 in Tokyo, the 108 Military Central Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine at Toho University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation, contributing to the realization of commitments made by high-level leaders of Vietnam and Japan within the framework of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Under the agreement, the two sides will boost the exchange of faculty and students, conduct joint scientific research, organize professional conferences, and share advanced medical technologies. Lieutenant General Prof. Dr. Le Huu Song, Director of 108 Military Central Hospital, stated that this agreement is the result of ongoing collaboration since 2024—encompassing academic exchanges, professional consultations, scientific research, and medical workforce training—and affirmed that healthcare cooperation serves as a practical contribution to the friendly and trusting relationship between the two nations. Professor Yoshimori Watanabe expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in training, research, and treatment, aiming to foster substantive activities following the signing ceremony. Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu emphasized that the event serves as concrete proof of the implementation of agreements reached during the visit to Vietnam by Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae in May 2026, which prioritized cooperation in science and technology, innovation, high-quality human resource training, and healthcare. Building on the foundations of two leading institutions for training, research, and medical care in Vietnam and Japan, the agreement is expected to expand professional collaboration, enhance the quality of training and healthcare services, and further deepen the relationship between Vietnam and Japan./.
