Third Japan Law Quiz Competition Attracts Nearly 30,000 Vietnamese Participants

On October 12, 2026, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan held a ceremony to announce the results and present awards for the third Japan Law Quiz Competition for Vietnamese residents in Japan. This year's competition attracted nearly 30,000 participants, more than three times the number in 2025.

The competition was jointly organized by the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan, Viet Nam's Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Home Affairs, in coordination with the Japan-Vietnam International Exchange Organization  (FAVIJA) and HONTO TV. It also received expert support from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, the Immigration Services Agency of Japan, and the Tokyo Administrative Scriveners Association.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu expressed appreciation for the cooperation of organizations from both countries and welcomed the marked improvement in the quality of entries, particularly the practical suggestions offered by participants on integrating into Japanese society. He emphasized that the competition's greatest achievement was helping Vietnamese residents better understand Japanese laws, customs and traditions while raising awareness of the importance of legal compliance. The Ambassador also reaffirmed the Embassy's commitment to working with Japanese authorities to support Vietnamese nationals living, studying and working in Japan.

The Organizing Committee presented 30 individual awards and three group awards. The Special Prize went to Nguyen Van Dat, a care worker in Yamanashi Prefecture who had participated in the competition for two consecutive years. Koazu, a company operating in the hospitality and building maintenance sectors, had the highest number of participants among businesses.

Now in its third edition, the competition has become a practical way to improve legal awareness among Vietnamese residents in Japan, while highlighting the value of cooperation between the Embassy, Japanese authorities, community organizations and businesses. This cooperation will continue to support initiatives that help Vietnamese residents comply with Japanese laws, act responsibly and integrate into local communities./.
