Vietnam and Japan Boost Cooperation in Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation

During his working visit to Japan, Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan held meetings with leaders from Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), as well as the University of Tokyo, and attended the Vietnam-Japan Digital Technology Forum 2026.

During these meetings, the two sides discussed measures to foster cooperation in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, healthcare, digital infrastructure, and high-quality human resource training, while also strengthening connections among regulatory bodies, universities, research institutes, and enterprises from both nations. They also explored the potential for implementing joint research programs, training personnel in semiconductors and AI, and developing technology pilot models.

At the Vietnam-Japan Digital Technology Forum 2026 in Tokyo, Minister Vu Hai Quan emphasized the potential to expand cooperation from merely providing technology services to engaging in research, development, and the co-creation of high-value-added technology products. The two sides focused on sectors such as AI, robotics, drones, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure, aiming to introduce co-developed products to global markets and supply chains.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu attended and accompanied the delegation at the forum, helping to strengthen connections among agencies, organizations, and businesses from both countries.
