Embassy of Vietnam in Japan Hosts Celebration of the 81st National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
On the evening of September 18, the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan held a ceremony in Tokyo to celebrate the 81st National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. More than 700 delegates—including Japanese officials, international guests, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan—attended the event, which was marked by a solemn, friendly, and cohesive atmosphere.
Attendees included Japanese Minister of Justice Yamashita Takashi, Minister of Finance Katayama Satsuki, and House of Representatives member Obuchi Yuko (Chair of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance), alongside representatives from Japanese government agencies, local authorities, and organizations, as well as foreign diplomatic and defense missions in Japan and the Vietnamese community. Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu sent a congratulatory message on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu highlighted Vietnam's outstanding achievements in development and international integration. He also affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Japan continues to be strengthened and expanded across various sectors, deepening in substance.
Reflecting on his tenure of over three years in Japan, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu noted that he had the opportunity to visit all 47 of Japan's prefectures. Through these visits, he recognized the immense potential for cooperation between localities in both countries and deeply felt the friendship and close bonds shared by the peoples of Vietnam and Japan. Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu remarked: “Wherever I go, I hear positive things about the Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in Japan. Their contributions to Japan’s economy and local communities are a source of pride and serve as a solid foundation for the future of the relationship between our two nations.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Japanese Minister of State for Regional Revitalization Satsuki Katayama reviewed key milestones in Japan-Vietnam relations, while emphasizing the growing importance of the bilateral partnership and Vietnam’s rising stature.
Minister Katayama noted that cooperation between the two countries has expanded beyond the bilateral framework, evolving into a partnership between key allies contributing to peace and prosperity in Asia and the world. She expressed her hope that the friendship and cooperation between Japan and Vietnam would continue to strengthen, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both nations and the region.
The celebration of Vietnam’s National Day in Japan is an annual event that has become a significant diplomatic occasion, attracting great interest and participation from a wide range of agencies, organizations, political figures, and friends from both Japan and the international community.
Through this event, the Embassy of Vietnam continues to showcase the country’s development achievements and its image as a peaceful, friendly, dynamic, integrated, and responsible nation, while fostering greater understanding, trust, and friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Japan.
For the Vietnamese community in Japan, this is also a meaningful occasion to turn their hearts toward the homeland and nurture national pride, thereby continuing to act as a bridge and making active contributions to Vietnam’s development and the bilateral relationship./.
