On August 19, 2026, at the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu received Shimmi Jun, Commissioner of the Government of Japan for GREEN×EXPO 2027, who paid a courtesy visit and exchanged views on coordination in preparation for Viet Nam’s participation in the international exposition.

At the meeting, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu congratulated Shimmi on his recent appointment as Commissioner of the Government of Japan for GREEN×EXPO 2027. The Ambassador affirmed that the Government of Viet Nam attaches great importance to the event, considering it an important international platform to promote the image of Viet Nam and to advance substantive cooperation between Viet Nam, Japan and other partners.

On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed appreciation for the active coordination extended by the Japanese side to Viet Nam’s focal agency, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, during the registration process for participation in GREEN×EXPO 2027 in Yokohama. He also requested continued support from relevant Japanese agencies in preparing Viet Nam’s pavilion at the event, so as to effectively showcase Viet Nam’s potential, strengths and message, thereby contributing to the overall success of the exposition.

Shimmi Jun stated that GREEN×EXPO 2027 is one of Japan’s important national events, covering a wide range of themes, including agriculture, green development, ecological technologies and responses to climate change, and is attracting strong interest from many countries around the world. He affirmed that the Government of Japan values Viet Nam’s participation and highly appreciates the serious coordination and preparations undertaken by the Vietnamese side through the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and representatives of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan. He also expressed his hope to continue close coordination with Viet Nam during the preparation process to ensure that Viet Nam’s participation in GREEN×EXPO 2027 will produce practical results.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular exchanges and close coordination throughout the preparation process toward the opening of the exposition in March 2027.
