On June 26, 2026, Ambassador of Viet Nam to Japan Pham Quang Hieu received Tran Tri Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee, together with the provincial delegation, during their working visit to Japan.

At the meeting, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu warmly welcomed the Vinh Long delegation to Japan and highly appreciated the province’s continued attention to promoting cooperation with Japanese localities, businesses and partners, particularly in the context of its recent completion of administrative reorganization and expanded development space. The Ambassador expressed his confidence that, with its new scale, new potential and new development vision, Vinh Long would become an important growth pole in the Mekong Delta and the southern region of Viet Nam.

The Ambassador also spoke highly of the cooperation between Vinh Long Province and Niigata Prefecture, which has been implemented on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023, with practical results in agriculture, human resource training, rice variety research… The Ambassador suggested that the province continue to make effective use of the existing cooperation framework while expanding cooperation into new areas in line with the development needs of both localities.

On behalf of the delegation, Tran Tri Quang expressed his appreciation to the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan for its continued support and companionship with Vietnamese localities, including Vinh Long Province, in connecting and promoting cooperation with Japanese localities and businesses. Tran Tri Quang also shared the outcomes of cooperation between Vinh Long and Japanese localities, organizations and enterprises in recent years, particularly in investment, trade, labor cooperation, education and training, and human resource development. He expressed his hope that the province would continue to receive the Embassy’s support in investment promotion and in expanding cooperation with Niigata Prefecture and other Japanese partners, thereby contributing to the province’s socio-economic development in the new period.

On this occasion, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu respectfully invited the leaders of Vinh Long Province to consider attending the Viet Nam–Japan Local Cooperation Forum 2026, scheduled to be held in Viet Nam later this year. The Ambassador affirmed that the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan would continue to work closely with Vinh Long Province in connecting with Japanese localities, organizations and businesses, contributing to making Viet Nam–Japan local cooperation increasingly substantive, practical and effective.
