Roundtable Discussion Between Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu and Representatives from Various Sectors in Japan on Promoting Vietnam-Japan Cooperation

On May 18th in Tokyo, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, in coordination with the Office of Japanese House of Representatives Member and former Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Shimomura Hakubun, organized a roundtable discussion between Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu and representatives from various sectors in Japan on promoting Vietnam-Japan cooperation. This is a practical economic diplomacy activity, attracting approximately 50 delegates representing businesses, organizations, associations, and agencies from both countries to enhance information exchange, establish substantive cooperation, and promote cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, and education.

Speaking at the seminar, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu provided an overview of Vietnam's new context since the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the first session of the 16th National Assembly, while emphasizing the potential and strengths of both countries. The Ambassador stated that the excellent political relations in recent years are an important foundation for Vietnam and Japan to expand comprehensive cooperation, support each other's development, and effectively exploit each other's potential. Sharing this view, Member of Parliament Shimomura Hakubun affirmed that Japan always values ​​Vietnam and highly appreciates the positive development of bilateral relations during Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's tenure as proof of Japan's respect for Vietnam. He also expressed his hope that the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation in strategic areas such as security, energy, minerals, and technology.

At the seminar, Japanese delegates exchanged views on Vietnam's investment environment, development policies, and opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the coming period. All opinions expressed a particular interest in Vietnam and the expectation that Vietnam-Japan relations will continue to develop in a deeper, more substantive, and more effective way in the future.
