Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae Pays Official Visit to Vietnam

          At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Le Minh Hung, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae paid an official visit to Vietnam from May 1 to May 3, 2026.

          During his official visit, Prime Minister Takaichi visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum; laid a wreath at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street, Hanoi; and delivered a foreign policy speech at Hanoi National University.

          General Secretary and President To Lam received the Japanese Prime Minister. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung welcomed him, held talks, and met with the press to inform them of the results of the talks. On this occasion, in the presence of Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae, ministries, agencies, and localities of the two countries exchanged six cooperation documents. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung hosted a grand reception for Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae.

          During the receptions, talks, and meetings, Vietnamese leaders welcomed the visit of Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae and the high-level delegation of the Japanese Government, noting that it took place at an important and significant time when both countries have new leadership and are striving to achieve their respective socio-economic development goals. Expressing delight at the positive development of Vietnam-Japan relations after more than two years of upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Vietnamese leaders highly appreciated the substantive and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides, characterized by high political trust, effective coordination, and the establishment of numerous mechanisms for exchange and dialogue on economics, diplomacy, security, and defense. They also noted the increased close cooperation in economics and human resources, and the expansion of cooperation into new areas such as digital transformation, green transformation, science and technology, and innovation.

          Thanking the Party, State, and people of Vietnam for the warm welcome and respectful reception, Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae affirmed his support for Vietnam's reform efforts and its pursuit of economic self-reliance, expressing confidence that Vietnam will achieve even greater successes in the future.

          Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's first official visit to Vietnam was a great success, marking an important milestone, creating new momentum and opening up many new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries./.
