Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu visits and works in Kagoshima Prefecture

On October 14-15, 2025, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu visited and worked in Kagoshima Prefecture, aiming to promote local cooperation, investment, trade, tourism and high-tech agriculture between Vietnam and Japan.

At the meeting, Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture Shiota Koichi warmly welcomed the Ambassador, expressing his joy at the strong development of the local Vietnamese community (about 5,000 people) - who are making important contributions to the economic and social development of the province.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu highly appreciated Kagoshima's cooperation and proposed to expand and re-sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hai Phong city, inheriting the traditional relationship between Kagoshima and Hai Duong province, signed in 2019. Expanding cooperation with Hai Phong - one of the four major economic centers of Vietnam - will help both sides promote their potential in seaports, logistics, agricultural processing and tourism.

During the working trip, the Ambassador visited Kamichiku Corporation, Kagoshima's leading enterprise in the field of livestock breeding, processing and trading of high-quality beef, and representatives of Sojitz Corporation - Kamichiku's strategic partner. Starting from a livestock farm, Kamichiku has developed into an integrated model of “livestock – processing – restaurant business”, with the famous brand Ushinokura, carrying the philosophy of “from farm to table”, ensuring safety, quality and authentic Japanese culinary experience.

The enterprise currently has 20 Vietnamese employees and cooperates with the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture and Ba Vi Cattle Research Institute in livestock training and technology transfer. The Ambassador highly appreciated Kamichiku’s efforts in training a team of Vietnamese engineers and staff, helping to improve skills and understanding of cattle farming according to Japanese standards.

During his stay in Kagoshima, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu also attended and spoke at the Dialogue with typical businesses of the province, affirming that the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan always accompanies the governments and businesses of the two countries in expanding investment, sustainable development and connecting localities - businesses of Vietnam - Japan.
