AMBASSADOR PHAM QUANG HIEU WORKS WITH VIETNAMESE HONORARY CONSULARS IN JAPAN

On May 12, 2025, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan Pham Quang Hieu worked with Honorary Consuls of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Japanese localities, including Mr. Nakata Takahiro, Honorary Consul of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Sapporo City, Hokkaido Prefecture; Mr. Natsume Nagato, Honorary Consul of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Aichi Prefecture; Mr. Taniguchi Moriyuki, Honorary Consul of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Mie Prefecture.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu thanked the Honorary Consuls for always having good feelings towards the country and people of Vietnam. The Ambassador highly appreciated the Vietnamese Honorary Consuls in Japan for actively implementing the functions of Honorary Consuls in their positions in their consular areas, including consular protection for the interests of the State, the rights and legitimate interests of Vietnamese citizens and legal entities; providing information on the local situation and laws; supporting and assisting Vietnamese citizens in cultural and social activities, and mobilizing material support for Vietnamese citizens in times of trouble and difficulty, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu suggested that the Honorary Consuls continue to contribute to the comprehensive development of relations between the consular area and Vietnam in the coming time, focusing on citizen protection, supporting and assisting citizens in difficulty, disseminating Japanese laws to Vietnamese citizens, and participating in promoting economic, trade, investment, cultural, educational - training, scientific - technological, and tourism relations between Vietnam and their consular areas.

The Honorary Consuls expressed their pleasure in participating in the meeting and thanked the Embassy for its coordination and effective support for the Honorary Consuls in performing their duties. The Honorary Consuls reported on their activities in various fields in their consular areas in the past time, and at the same time proposed measures to improve the effectiveness of the Honorary Consulates' activities in the coming time.
