Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu works with the Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture
On March 18, 2025, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu met and worked with the Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, Mr. Suzuki Yasutomo, at the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan. During the meeting, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu and Governor Suzuki discussed the recent exchanges between Shizuoka Prefecture and Vietnam, as well as measures to strengthen cooperation in the future, particularly in the fields of investment, trade, labor, local cooperation, education, and science and technology.
Shizuoka Prefecture holds historical ties with Vietnam, as it was once the place where patriot Phan Boi Chau left his mark during the Dong Du Movement in the early 20th century and was also the setting for the touching story of his friendship with Dr. Asaba. Currently, the Vietnamese community in Shizuoka Prefecture consists of approximately 15,000 people, making it the largest foreign community in the province, actively contributing to the local socio-economic development.
