Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu Welcomes General Iehiro Tokugawa and His Wife to the Embassy

On July 16, 2025, at the headquarters of the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu warmly welcomed Mr. Iehiro Tokugawa — the 19th-generation descendant of Shogun Tokugawa — and his wife, who is Vietnamese, on their visit to the Embassy. The Ambassador expressed his hope that the love story of the General and his wife would serve as an inspiration to future Japanese-Vietnamese couples.

On this occasion, Mr. Tokugawa highly appreciated the strong development of the bilateral relationship between the two countries in recent years, across all fields including politics, diplomacy, economic cooperation, and education and training. He especially emphasized the long history of cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations since the 19th century.

Both sides expressed their desire to continue contributing to the further promotion of bilateral cooperation in the time to come.
