Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu Visits Tokushima Province

 

Recently, Vietnam's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan, Pham Quang Hieu, visited Tokushima Province, met with Governor Gotoda Masazumi, delivered a speech at a seminar with provincial businesses, and participated in exchange activities with leaders from various sectors of Tokushima Province.

Governor Gotoda warmly welcomed Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu on his first visit to the province, expressing respect and high appreciation for the contributions of the Vietnamese community to the province's development, as it is the largest foreign community there. Implementing the agreement between the Governor and the Ambassador in March 2025, the province has supported the early establishment of the Vietnamese Association in Tokushima Province. In the coming period, the province will closely coordinate with the Association, improve relevant mechanisms and policies to enhance the attraction of the Vietnamese community to live and work in building a multicultural symbiotic society in the province. Currently, the province is cooperating with Vietnamese localities to support businesses in the province in strengthening the reception and training of Vietnamese truck drivers according to Japanese standards within the province. At the same time, Governor Gotoda expressed a desire to promote cooperation with Vietnam across all fields, from traditional areas such as investment, trade, education, labor, and agriculture to new fields like disaster prevention, digital transformation (DX), and AI….

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu expressed his delight in visiting Tokushima Province, marking it as his first local visit immediately after the two countries successfully organized the inaugural Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum on November 25, signifying that local cooperation relations between the two countries have entered a new stage of development. He expressed a wish to promote cooperation in Tokushima's strengths, such as manufacturing, supporting industries, high-tech agriculture, tourism, cultural exchanges, people-to-people exchanges, and local cooperation between the two sides. He is ready to support the Governor's efforts in enhancing the professional skills and Japanese language proficiency of Vietnamese workers, as well as increasing the reception of Vietnamese university and high school students to study and exchange with students and pupils in the province. He sincerely thanked the Governor and the Tokushima Provincial Government for their warm sentiments and effective support toward the Vietnamese community in the province. On this occasion, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu respectfully invited Governor Gotoda to visit Vietnam at a suitable time. Governor Gotoda thanked Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu and happily accepted the invitation.

At the seminar and exchange session with leaders from various sectors of Tokushima Province, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu provided the latest information on Vietnam's economic and social development, as well as the relations between the two countries in recent times, and on the major orientations and prospects for Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the future. Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu answered several questions about Vietnam's efforts to combat population aging, disaster prevention, as well as inquiries about the strengths of Tokushima Province….
