Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu Receives Quang Tri Delegation and Attends “Meet Quang Tri–Japan” Conference

On October 21, 2026, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu received Nguyen Chien Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee, together with a provincial delegation. The Ambassador also attended and delivered remarks at the “Meet Quang Tri–Japan” conference held at the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan.

During the meeting, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu welcomed the delegation and commended the province’s proactive efforts to strengthen ties with Japanese local governments, organizations and businesses. He noted that, following its merger, Quang Tri has a broader development base, combining strengths in the marine economy, energy, industry, agriculture and tourism. Its location along the East–West Economic Corridor, network of international border gates and seaports, and continued investment in transport infrastructure provide favorable conditions for developing logistics and manufacturing and strengthening links with regional markets.

The Ambassador highlighted the positive foundations of Quang Tri’s relations with Japan across various fields, including its friendship with Yamanashi Prefecture, development cooperation through official development assistance (ODA) programs, and the presence of Japanese businesses in the province. He affirmed that the Embassy would continue to support Quang Tri in building connections with Japanese local governments, organizations and the business community, while promoting concrete and practical cooperation programs.

At the “Meet Quang Tri–Japan” conference, participants exchanged views on Quang Tri’s potential, development priorities and opportunities for investment cooperation with Japanese partners. The event enabled the province to present its investment environment and priority sectors directly to Japanese businesses and gain a better understanding of their needs, thereby fostering new connections in investment, trade and local-level cooperation.

Addressing the conference, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu emphasized that the Viet Nam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership provides a favorable foundation for local governments and businesses in both countries to expand cooperation. He proposed three priorities for Quang Tri and its Japanese partners: promoting investment in manufacturing and supply chain development, particularly in processing, manufacturing, supporting industries and higher-value processing of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; expanding cooperation in clean energy and logistics by building on the province’s location along the East–West Economic Corridor; and strengthening cooperation in tourism and human resource development, drawing on the province’s distinctive natural, historical and cultural assets.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu affirmed that the Embassy would continue to actively assist Quang Tri in connecting with partners, providing information and coordinating efforts to advance cooperation proposals. He expressed the hope that connections established at the conference would soon lead to exploratory visits, investment projects and cooperation programs delivering tangible benefits to both sides.
