Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu Meets with LDP Vice President Taro Aso

On October 20, 2026, Ambassador of Viet Nam to Japan Pham Quang Hieu met with Taro Aso, Vice President of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), member of the House of Representatives and former Prime Minister of Japan.

During the meeting, both sides welcomed the positive development of the Viet Nam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent years and exchanged views on ways to elevate bilateral relations to new heights and make cooperation more substantive and effective. They emphasized the importance of strengthening exchanges at all levels, particularly high-level visits, and promoting closer ties and cooperation between the ruling parties of the two countries.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu expressed his sincere appreciation for Mr. Aso’s significant contributions to fostering friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan. He also extended a cordial invitation to Mr. Aso to visit Viet Nam again in the near future and continue contributing to the further strengthening and deepening of bilateral relations.

For his part, LDP Vice President Taro Aso expressed his admiration for Viet Nam’s remarkable socio-economic achievements in recent years. He underscored the importance of further strengthening Viet Nam–Japan relations amid a changing regional and international landscape. Mr. Aso affirmed that deepening bilateral cooperation would not only contribute to the development of both countries in a new phase of development but also promote peace, stability and development in the region and around the world.
