Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu Hosts Discussion with the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship League

           On August 25, 2026, at the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu hosted a discussion with the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship League to exchange views on directions for advancing Vietnam-Japan relations in the new era.

          Attendees included Ms. Obuchi Yuko, Chairwoman of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship League, along with key members of the League, such as Vice Chairwoman and Minister of Finance Katayama Satsuki; Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Kaneko Yasushi; Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Ozaki Masanao; and numerous Japanese parliamentarians.

          In an atmosphere of friendship, openness, and substance, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on ways to further deepen the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, making it more effective and sustainable in the new era, in alignment with each country's development strategies and goals. Both sides agreed on the need to leverage their respective strengths and complementarities to generate new momentum for cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, and high-quality human resource training.

          Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu highly appreciated the positive and long-standing contributions of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship League to the development of bilateral relations. He expressed his hope that the League would continue to play a vital role as a bridge, helping to effectively implement the agreements and cooperative directions set by the senior leaders of both nations, thereby bringing the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to a deeper and more substantive level. Both sides also emphasized the importance of further strengthening parliamentary exchanges and interactions between lawmakers from both countries, with a particular focus on fostering connections among young and female parliamentarians; this aims to expand the network of supporters for Vietnam-Japan relations, enhance mutual understanding and trust, and build a solid foundation for the long-term development of the bilateral relationship.
