Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu Attends Vietjet Air’s Inaugural Shizuoka – Hanoi Flight Ceremony

On April 28, 2026, in Shizuoka, Vietjet Air officially launched a direct route connecting Shizuoka with Hanoi.

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to Japan Pham Quang Hieu, Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture Suzuki Yasutomo, Mr. Ta Huu Thanh, Chief Commercial Officer of Vietjet Air, as well as representatives from local organizations, associations, and businesses in Shizuoka.

In his remarks, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu highlighted that in recent years, cooperation and exchanges between Shizuoka Prefecture and Viet Nam have achieved positive outcomes across various fields, including economy, investment, trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. He expressed confidence that the launch of the direct Shizuoka–Hanoi route would further promote bilateral cooperation, strengthen connectivity among businesses, localities, and citizens of the two countries.

The Ambassador also noted his expectation that the new route would not only serve as a bridge linking Shizuoka with Viet Nam but also become an important gateway for enhancing exchanges between Shizuoka and other countries in Southeast Asia in the coming period.

Currently, Vietjet Air operates an extensive flight network connecting major cities in Viet Nam with key destinations in Japan such as Tokyo (Narita, Haneda), Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Hiroshima.

The addition of the Shizuoka–Hanoi route, the first direct connection between Shizuoka and Southeast Asia, marks a new milestone in aviation connectivity between Viet Nam and Japan, while opening up broader opportunities to promote economic, trade, and tourism exchanges between the two sides.
