2 Vietnamese youths awarded certificates of merit for bravely saving people in Japan

 

VOV.VN - On the afternoon of August 22, the Mie prefectural government and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan held a ceremony to award certificates of merit to two Vietnamese youths who bravely saved people in Japan in recent days, to recognize and honor this heroic act.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu once again expressed his recognition, appreciation and praise for the heroic and brave actions of Pham Quoc Dat (27 years old) and Tong Manh Tuan (28 years old) who saved the lives of two children in distress on August 11; emphasizing that this action has contributed to spreading the spirit of great responsibility towards the community, the image and noble deeds of Vietnamese people in the eyes of the people and authorities of the host country, demonstrating a typical example of the courage, responsibility and love of the Vietnamese people.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu said: “The brave actions of the two of you not only bring joy to the families of the two children, but can also be said to carry a very great message, inspiring good deeds, creating an increasingly beautiful image of the Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese community in the eyes of the Japanese people. Thereby, it also contributes to further strengthening the friendly relations between Vietnam and Japan”.

Acknowledging the brave actions of Mr. Pham Quoc Dat and Mr. Tong Manh Tuan, Mr. Ino Takumi - Director of the Tsu City Fire Department, Mie Prefecture shared: “Once again, we would like to sincerely thank you two. Your wonderful brave actions saved two lives, bringing happiness to the children's families. The children's families also send you our deep gratitude. You are a wonderful bridge between the two countries of Vietnam and Japan”.

For their part, sharing their thoughts at the moment they bravely jumped into the big waves to save the two children in distress, Mr. Pham Quoc Dat and Mr. Tong Manh Tuan - said:

“At that time, I saw the two children floating outside, at that time I didn't think about anything, I just rushed out to save the children. The moment I saved the children to shore, I felt really relieved and comfortable”.

“I think in that situation, anyone would rush out to save the children like us if they knew how to swim or were able to swim out. If we encounter situations like this again, I will definitely swim out too.”

Previously, on August 11, at Gotenba beach in Tsu city, Mie province, two Japanese children were playing on a float near the shore at a seaside amusement park when they were suddenly swept out to sea by strong waves and winds and drifted along the coast for a long distance. Immediately after discovering the unusual incident, two young Vietnamese men nearby, Pham Quoc Dat and Tong Manh Tuan, did not hesitate and bravely jumped into the big waves, swam to block the two children's heads to save them.

After struggling with strong winds and big waves, two brave Vietnamese young men saved two children, bringing the indescribable joy to the victims' families and the admiration of those present at the scene. The brave actions of the two Vietnamese young men then strongly spread the image, good values ​​and sense of responsibility of the Vietnamese community in the eyes of the Japanese people.
